It’s that magical time of year: the semi-annual culinary pop-up market Madison Square Eats presented by Urban Space and the Madison Square Park Conservancy. Located in the triangle between Broadway and 5th Avenue next to Madison Square Park, the pop-up outdoor food market combines my love of food and being outdoors. I stopped by this little food haven last Friday and indulged in a spicy tuna taco from Takumi Taco, the brainchild of Marc Spitzer and Derek Kaye. I love the idea behind Takumi Taco as it fuses two of my favorite cuisines, Japanese and Mexican. They make the spicy tuna taco using sashimi grade big eye tuna with lots of spicy mayo and avocado and cucumber, topped with jicama and served in a deliciously crispy gyoza shell. Madison Square Eats will be running for the whole month of May, and I plan on trying as many vendors as I can so stay tuned.
